Frequently Asked Questions

What should my child bring to camp?

Students will need a morning snack and a lunch. Refrigeration is available but microwaves are not. El Camino is not a nut free operation so students with allergies will need to be responsible to eat only what they pack.

Why are we only accepting kids entering 2nd-6th grade this year?

Although we enjoyed our littlest campers very much last year, the consensus among staff was that they were not quite ready for El Camino Camp. The academic nature of many activities was often too much for kids who had only completed kindergarten. They struggled noticeably more than other children in terms of attention span and proper social behavior.

Why is the cost going up for the summer of 2026?

We strive to keep El Camino Camp as affordable as possible for families. However, there were several factors that caused us to raise rates this year, including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Increased insurance costs.
  • Increased facility rental prices at both Immanuel Lutheran Church and the pavilion at the park.
  • For 2026 we will be hiring a full-time, Lead Junior Counselor to help support the teaching staff.
What is your behavior policy?

Our Policy on Behavioral Problems

When a camper does not follow the behavior guidelines, we will take the following action steps as behavior problems progress.

  1. Staff will redirect the camper to more appropriate behavior.
  2. If inappropriate behavior continues, the camper will be reminded of behavior guidelines and camp rules, and the camper will be asked to correct his/her behavior.
  3. If inappropriate behavior continues, as a final action step the camper may be dismissed from camp.

Examples of Unacceptable Behavior

  • Refusing to follow behavior guidelines or camp rules.
  • Using profanity, vulgarity or obscenity.
  • Stealing or damaging property (personal or camp property).
  • Refusal to participate in activities or cooperate with staff.
  • Disrupting a program.
  • Leaving a program without permission.
  • Teasing, making fun or bullying of other campers or staff.
  • Fighting of any kind.

Camper fees are non-refundable if a camper is sent home for disciplinary reasons. Physical violence or bullying toward another camper or staff member will result in immediate dismissal from the camp program.
